Email security

In information age, web security becomes a leading concern for all netizens. As is well known, email is an extensively used communication tool. With the tool, users can keep close touch with friends, family members, business partners, etc. Naturally, more and more users attach importance to email security. Once emails are lost or deleted due to virus invasions or malicious attacks, users will suffer a lot. Here, several tricks to protect email security are advised for email users.
1. Create multiple email accounts Email accounts are the important bond for all online activities. Providing that certain email account containing all significant social information and communication lists is lost, email users may suffer from unrecoverable losses. However, if the vital information is distributed into multiple email accounts, email users will only lose part of significant information if an email account is stolen.
2. Set more than two sets of passwords As mentioned above, email users are advised to create multiple email accounts to protect email security. Similarly, setting more than two sets of passwords for those email accounts is useful. If email users set only one set of password and it is cracked by malicious users, all personal information in related email accounts may be leaked out. Some users say that it is hard for them to memorize multiple sets of passwords, so they can ensure primary email account to be special at least.
3. Watch out phishing scams Phishing scams refer to the scams that users are asked to deliver user account and password for authentication, when they fail to log in. Phishing scams can steal confidential information from users' email accounts, so users need to pay high attention to fake web links.
4. Do not randomly click web links in emails Phishing scams enlighten users that it is unwise to randomly click web links contained in emails. If users are using their email account for registration, the corresponding web link for activation may be secure. However, to protect email security, users still need to be much careful if they want to click such web links, otherwise unexpected issues will be brought.
5. Do not open self-invited accessories It is hard to handle accessories in emails. The accessories included in the emails from your friends or family members may be secure. However, email users had better not open self-invited accessories whose file name may be forged, let alone their content. There is every chance that viruses in such emails may pose high risk to email security.
6. Pay close attention to virus-scanning malware Many email users may have come across the situation where a piece of virus-scanning software appears after they open an email. However, such software may lead safe files to be infected by existing viruses.
7. Avoid using public Wi-Fi network connection It is quite risky for email users to use public Wi-Fi network connection to read, send, receive or manage emails, for the network connection may be manipulated by hackers, who can steal user account and password via "network sniffer".
